Rust Inhibitors
For Short-Term Rust Prevention

Prevents rust on iron and steel but has no effect on subsequent cleaning, painting, or machining operations.

Under normal inside-storage conditions, prevents rust for up to about one month.

Recommended Use Dilutions

Dilute in hot or cold water. Quantity required varies depending on required duration of effectiveness and storage conditions. Recommended per gallon of solution:

For rust prevention up to two weeks under normal storage conditions.......................................................	4 oz/gal = 1:31 water.
For rust prevention up to one month under normal storage conditions........................................................	13 oz/gal = 1:9 water.
For rust prevention for any period up to one month under adverse storage conditions such as high humidity, salt water vapor or acid vapor.................................................................	13 oz/gal = 1:9 water.

Application

Apply by spray, brush or dip. Let air dry. If used on parts cleaned in a spray washer, a simple method of application is to inject Rust Ban #30 into the final rinse water.

Properties

Clear, almost colorless liquid. Noncombustible. Biodegradable. Low viscosity.

Testing Solutions

Under laboratory conditions, solutions of Rust Ban #30 can be titrated using ferrous phenanthroline as indicator and ceric ammonium sulfate as reagent. Under industrial conditions, no satisfactory method of titration is known; accurate, reproducible tests are impractical because of chemical drag-out from previous operations, dissolved metals, and water-treatment chemicals normally present in process water.
