Hydratone #99 totally deactivates the metal ions which cause water to be "hard". For all industrial uses, water treated with a sufficient quantity of Hydratone #99 is the same as water of zero hardness.

. . . . .	It removes existing scale from, and prevents scale formation on, all types of water handling and washing equipment. It restores and maintains the efficiency of heat exchangers, pumps, pipes, machines and spray nozzles.
. . . . .	It improves cleaning where hard water is used. By deactivating hardness elements, it improves detergent performance and promotes spot-free rinsing. It is effective at any pH.
. . . . .	It frequently lowers cleaning costs where hard water must be used. With improved water quality, good cleaning can be done with less detergent.

Quantity Required

0.07 fluid ounce of Hydratone #99 per grain of hardness as calcium carbonate, CaCO?. In mathematical terms: 0.07 oz/grain.

Example: Water hardness is 20 grains per gallon. Hydratone #99 required is:

20 grains/gal x 0.07 oz/grain = 1.4 oz/gallon.

Example: Water hardness is 24 grains per gallon. For 200 gallons of water, Hydratone #99 required is:

. . . . .	200 gallons x 1.68 oz/gal = 336 oz = 2.6 gallons.

This quantity eliminates the hardness due to all metals commonly occurring in water used for industrial cleaning: calcium, magnesium, and iron. To remove existing scale, increase quantity by 50% until scale is gone. Simple, cheap kits are available for finding hardness as calcium carbonate in grains per gallon.

In rare cases where cadmium, copper, lead, mercury, or nickel must be sequestered, less Hydratone #99 is needed; to sequester aluminum, use 60% more. The exact quantity required for any metal is available upon request.
